想起之前看过的一篇轶事。

从1880年起，《牛津英语词典》的编委会每周都会从疯人院收到一封来信，提供对数十个词语释义的修改意见。
后来，总编实在耐不住好奇心的折磨，于是去疯人院拜访这位院长。
院长听说了其来意，颔首道：“这封信是从这里寄出的，但不是我，而是一个病人。”

其后，我就养成一个习惯，每天都开着dictionary.com，时不时查一下某个词的英文释义。
我变得很好奇，所谓编撰词典这件事，是怎样的一帮聪明人，怎么用词句来解释词语，而又做到完备呢？

昨天夜里很没有精神，先喝了两罐可乐，清晨时分喝了一个咖啡。

二月二那天，我游荡了一圈，终于决定还是剃个头吧。
